How it works for checking
If qualifications are met:
Tier 1: The portion of your daily balance up to $10,000 will earn a dividend rate of 2.47% with an APY* of 2.50%.

Tier 2: The portion of your daily balance over $10,000 will earn a dividend rate of 0.25% with an APY* ranging from 0.27% to 2.50% depending on the balance in the account.

If qualifications are not met:
The entire balance will earn a dividend rate of 0.05% with an APY* of 0.05%.

FAQs

Can I switch my current TCU checking accounts to Thrivent Merit Checking?
Yes, you can switch any personal checking account to Thrivent Merit Checking and keep the same account number and debit card; however, this type of account is limited to one per primary owner.

You can also switch any personal savings account, excluding TFCU Membership Savings, to Thrivent Merit Savings, which is also limited to one per primary owner and is contingent on having a Thrivent Merit Checking account.

Can I get a Thrivent Merit Savings account without a Thrivent Merit Checking account?
No, you can only have a Thrivent Merit Savings account if you also have a Thrivent Merit Checking account. It cannot be a stand-alone account.

You are eligible for the high-yield rate of Thrivent Merit Savings only when the requirements of the Thrivent Merit Checking account have been met.
When do I have to meet the qualifications each month?
The monthly qualification cycle begins on the first day and ends on the last business day of the calendar month. Some purchases or POS transactions made on or after the last business day of the calendar month, may post and settle to your account the following month based on merchant posting timeframes. Debit card transactions may take one or more business days from the date the transaction was made to post and settle to an account.

How are ATM reimbursements paid on my account?
ATM fees will be reimbursed up to $20, credited to your account as a single deposit at the end of each qualification cycle.
I have a joint account, can we each contribute towards the qualifications?
Yes, all deposits and debit card transactions will be used to meet the qualifications.

You may qualify for monthly rewards if you meet the minimum qualification requirements of your Thrivent Merit Checking each monthly qualification cycle, defined as the period beginning on the first day of the calendar month and ending on the last business day of the calendar month. During that time, you must a) make 12 or more debit card purchases or POS transactions (PIN-based or signature-based) that post and settle to your account on or before the last day of the cycle; b) make direct deposits/automatic ACH deposits totaling $500.00 or more OR mobile deposits totaling $500.00 or more; and c) be enrolled in eStatements on the last day of the cycle. Some purchases or POS transactions made on or after the last business day of the calendar month, may post and settle to your account the following month based on merchant posting timeframes. Debit card transactions may take one or more business days from the date the transaction was made to post and settle to an account. Transfers between internal accounts do not count as direct deposits/automatic ACH deposits. For Thrivent Merit Checking, if minimum qualification requirements are met each monthly qualification cycle, a) ATM fees incurred during the cycle will be reimbursed up to $20; b) balances of $10,000.00 or less earn a rate of 2.47% with an APY of 2.50% and c) balances of $10,000.01 or more earn a rate of 0.25% with an APY ranging from 0.27% to 2.50% depending on the balance in the account. If qualifications are not met each monthly qualification cycle, all account balances earn a rate of 0.05% with an APY of 0.05% and ATM fees will not be reimbursed. For Thrivent Merit Savings, if Thrivent Merit Checking minimum qualification requirements are met each monthly qualification cycle, a) balances of $50,000.00 or less earn a rate of 2.96% with an APY of 3.00% and b) balances of $50,000.01 or more earn a rate of 1.29% with an APY ranging from 1.38% to 3.00% depending on the balance in the account. International ATM transactions are subject to an international surcharge applied by MasterCard that is not reimbursable by TCU. International ATM transactions may require the submission of your receipt for reimbursement of the ATM fee if combined with other fees.
